Margaret B. Harvey letters and lists, 1898-1899.

The collection consists of six letters she wrote to Otis Ashmore, corresponding secretary of the Georgia Historical Society regarding the lists of Revolutionary soldiers she was compiling, enclosing several of her lists of Georgia soldiers. The lists are "Alphabetical List of Georgia Revolutionary Soldiers, Regardless of Rank, Including Continentals, Militia, Sailors, Etc.," "Officers of the Continental Army Who Were Killed in Service, Became Supernumerary, or Served to the Close of the War and Acquired the Right to Half-Pay, Commutation, or Bounty Lands, Georgia Officers," from W.T.R. Saffell, Records of the Revolutionary War (Baltimore: 1894), passim; "Pensioned Officers (Invalids) Georgia," from Saffell, op. cit, 533-534; "Georgia Militia," comp from Harper's Cyclopedia of American History and D.A.R. Lineage Books; "Georgia Archives, Vol. I. Alphabetical List of Revolutionary Soldier," from various sources, "From 'Biographical Annals of the U.S. in Civil Government,'" by Charles Lanman (Washington: 1876); "Georgia Archives, Vol. 1. Georgia Continental Line," "Liberty Troop: Members who had previously served in the war of American Revolution," [from Charles Colcock Jones (1804-1863), Historical Address, delivered to the Liberty Independent Troop...February 22, 1856. Savannah: 1856). The letter of January 10, 1899 includes a list of "Proprietors in the Town of Sunbury who were also Revolutionary Soldiers." Most of Harvey's letters discuss sources. Some lists could not be identified as enclosures and have been counted separately.
